William Lloyd Garrison (1805-1879) – Author and publisher of the anti-slavery newspaper, The Liberator. Garrison expressed plainly and clearly through his newspaper that he would not tolerate the horrible institution of slavery. He also helped in the founding of the American Anti-Slavery Society.
